My First Discovery Scuba Diving Experience at Kontiki Dive Resort

Roxanne Into The Deep

Roxanne Into The Deep

This is how I started my summer for the month of April 2015 that I decided to get into scuba diving for the first time of my life. I’ve been into snorkeling the past few months that I even bought my own snorkeling gear and mask so that I could practice swimming without a life vest. I am making my summer happy.

It was on a Friday that I saw my friend’s Facebook who uploaded scuba diving photos as he is a dive master. I asked him about it and offered me an affordable price so I grabbed the opportunity to take the scuba diving lesson right away on a Monday. I was just too excited because I’ve been craving for Vitamin Sea.

Last Monday on April 6, 2015 and it all happened. I was really nervous at that time because I was afraid for my ears. But the moment I learned to equalize I was eager to dive more. I became so comfortable underwater that I loved swimming with the fishes. What can I say? It was an amazing experience.

Swimming on our way to the 9 meter deep... not bad for a first timer like me. :D

Here’s the gallery I created and you can see how I love to pose underwater… <3 😀

This experience is for someone who wants to try scuba diving. I really have no plan to take licensed diving courses as I could not afford it but I will consider doing fun dives if I have the budget.

  • wow… how nice! are you not afraid for your first time try?:) I love swimming too but the problem is don’t know how to swim and haven’t try scuba diving.:)

How much do you expense for this trip?

    • Hi Maya,

The idea at first was scary but once I was underwater na it was really fun already exploring and swimming as if you’re flying.

I knew how to swim already just a little bit. I am fond of snorkeling before it was with a life vest then just few months ago I was doing snorkeling without a life vest so I am learning swimming without the aid of it.

I paid for the scuba diving fee for P2,500. That’s all I needed to pay because I’m a resident here in Cebu. 😀

  • Hi rox… I bumped into your website thru penroads…I thought for you to be able to go on diving, you need to get a certificate first for open water.. With this friend of yours, there’s no need for that? You can immediately dive in that case…

I too can’t swim but can do snorkeling without vest.. Wanted to try it out but a bit hesitant because I can’t swim.. Reading this makes me want to try it too…

    • Hi Scheanneth,

This is Discovery Scuba Diving, no certificate needed. This is for people who wants to experience scuba diving for the first time and it’s up to you if you want to pursue with a certificate. I tried it once and I am enjoying it. If I have the money for the certification I’ll pursue it. But for fun dive it ‘s okay. 🙂
